Press Coverage of Zeena's Baptism (1967 - 1968)

Zeena's baptism, reported the in U.S. men's magazine See for Men, February 1968. Because of her father's pre-existing reputation as a nightclub organist, strip-show impresario and willing provider of nude photo ops with his Friday night rituals, Zeena's baptism was often reported in the same lurid men's magazines in which her father had been well established. Here is one example where Zeena's baptism story ran along side a salacious report "Prostitution European Style!". By using Zeena as a convenient prop for their media circus from the beginning of her life, her parents set her up in the unenviable position of constantly having to battle public accusations and prurient implications of the classic satanic sexual/ritual abuse argument. LaVey's violence, his abuse of his sexual partners and common law wife, and his toleration of sexual molestation were everyday features in his dysfunctional family. But these abuses were not ritual in nature, nor did they have anything to do with satanism, religion or philosophy. It was simply a case of two mentally challenged parents who shouldn't have had custody of their children since they weren't fit to properly care for or protect them from harm.
